I was introduced to Richard S. “Dick” Ames in the late 1980’s, as Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff Law Firm was recruiting me to join them in a move from Squire, Sanders & Dempsey.
Over the past 20 years, working through Ames Acquisition Corporation, I’ve had the good fortune to represent Dick Ames and Ames Acquisition Corporation in connection with a wide array of projects including, notably, four acquisitions.
First, Ames Acquisition Corporation acquired Akron’s Command Plastic Corporation from its founder.
Second, Ames Acquisition Corporation acquired Cleveland’s Smith-Lustig Paper Box Company from its founder.
Third, Ames Acquisition Corporation acquired Cleveland’s Tavens Container Corporation from its founder.
Fourth, Ames Acquisition Corporation acquired Madison Electric Products, Inc. from Tyco, the conglomerate.
These serial and successful acquisitions of multiple businesses over a period of decades represent another client success story.
Over the years, assisting entrepreneurs in connection with their first (often the toughest for multiple reasons) and then follow on acquisitions has become for us a specialty where we have substantial experience and of which we are proud.
